Quite how the Players managed to turn these two old and long plays into a double bill is a mystery, as nothing of the production survives except what was printed on the back of the previous programme. Antigone was an adaptation by Jean Anouilh; a veiled metaphor on collaboration first performed in Paris during the Nazi occupation. If your archivist is unconvinced, it seems the audience were too, as the production made a thumping loss of £28 5/1. |
