15-16 January 1960
It hardly seems worth adding a page for this show except for the sake of completeness or in the hope that some information turns up eventually. We know less about this show than any other except possibly Flare Path – maybe less, in that at least we know the name of the latter and who wrote it. The Players definitely did a pantomime in January 1960 and it was the most profitable show of the year. Yet nowhere, not even in that year’s account books, is it identified as anything but ‘Pantomime’. Perhaps it was so embarrassing that nobody wanted to remember it, or perhaps it was brilliant but only went by the generic name. Whatever the reason, the Society did another pantomime the following year so it didn’t put anybody off. |
