5-7 April 1973
The House on the Cliff is a mystery comedy set in a house rumoured to be the last stop of the Civil War Underground Railroad and overlooking one of the Great Lakes. Years ago, an excursion boat sank in a storm and it is said that the lake is haunted. The house’s occupants include Ellen Clayton, a lovely young heiress who is confined to a wheelchair, Karen Lloyd, her coolly beautiful stepmother and Jenny, the austere housekeeper. Ellen is looked after by Dr Lane who leaves suddenly to attend a conference overseas. Nurse Pepper arrives, a cheerful, curious person intent on putting things in order. And there’s the substitute doctor, Corey Philips, who believes Ellen can walk again. A thriller involving a body on the beach, a paralysed hysteric, a detective as a nurse and murderous impersonator.
