The discovery of a marriage that has lasted for eighty years prompts a newspaper to publicise the elderly couple and shower them with gifts. Yet Henry and Sarah turn out not to be the sweet old things of tradition. They cause a great deal of trouble and embarrassment to the staff of the newspaper, especially to one unsuccessful reporter, whose wife of four hours leaves him on their account. As implied in the History part of this website, The Full Treatment was something of a new beginning for the Players after the retirement of Harold Hart, who had been with the Society since the 1940s. Thereafter new but long-serving names appear such as Pat and Jeremy Walls, Keith and Lestrine Wishart, and Phil and Jayne Lane, alongside producer Ann Blatcher (whose mother-in-law Ellen George had been a founder member in 1936) and Anne Allocca/Finn/Kindley, who had joined in the 1960s. All of these would remain active in the Society till the 2010s and, in some cases, beyond. |
