Gaslight
by Patrick Hamilton; producer Ann Blatcher
4-6 December 1980
If, as the reviewer implied, Gaslight is just an old-fashioned melodrama, it nonetheless retains its place in the popular consciousness. Not only has the word ‘gaslighting’ entered the language but the play itself is regularly revived in the professional and amateur theatres. The Players might have been disappointed by the lukewarm review, but local newspapers seldom bother with amateur theatre these days, and any attention is better than none. |
